The Chambers of Commerce of Bishop and Lone Pine are working together to enhance customer service efforts by offering “fam trips” – field trips to familiarize local merchants and businesses with the unique attractions in the Owens Valley.
The program is offered to key front desk employees and will take them to such places as the Laws Museum, Manzanar Historic Site and the Alabama Hills. Many of our area’s employees have not ever actually visited the locations, and the trips will help them gain knowledge so that they can impart an authentic appreciation of these attractions to visitors. The goal is to help visitors enjoy their stay here, stay longer and return often.
The three scheduled trips are as follows:
August 10th – Lone Pine Area (including Interagency Visitor Center, Film Museum, Whitney Portal Road, Alabama Hills, Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery)
August 17th – Big Pine/Independence Area (including Manzanar Historic Site, Eastern California Museum, Bristlecone Pine Forest)
August 24th – Bishop Area (Including Laws Museum, Volcanic Tableland, Petroglyphs, Buttermilks, and Bishop Creek Canyon.
The tours will be free of charge, including bus/van transportation and lunch, thanks to grant funding provided by Inyo County’s CPSP program. Seating in the vans/buses will be limited, so please email your RSVP to Tawni Thomson at info@bishopvisitor.com as soon as possible.
